Porsche Designs More Than Just Beautiful Cars

In addition to designing the iconic sports cars of our time, Porsche has an exclusive series of Design Boutiques around the world.  These exclusive boutiques sell everything from candles to luggage to a complete kitchen including appliances, cabinets and countertops, all designed with Porsche quality and style.  The newest offering from the Porsche Design boutique line is a custom private bar designed for drinkers of Johnnie Walker Blue Label scotch.

With a price tag estimated at more than $150,000, the limited-production item is a made-to-custom-order piece intended to display and organize one or more Porsche Design-crafted bottles of Johnnie Walker, crystal glasses and crystal water decanter, ice compartment, tongs and other accessories.

The Private Bar stands more than 6 feet tall and is made of brushed stainless steel, natural shagreen leather and Australian lace wood. The bar uses motion sensors to activate its automated opening sequence, with sections that pivot and slide to display its features.

The product line will also include the Chiller, a case made of brushed titanium and blue leather that holds a single bottle of Blue Label. The top serves as an ice bucket. Also featured is the Cube, which holds a bottle of whisky, crystal glasses and tongs. Prices for The Chiller and The Cube are estimated at $375 and $770, respectively.

Porsche Design was established in 1972 by Ferdinand Alexander "Butzi" Porsche, designer of the iconic 911 sports car and grandson of the company founder.

Although Indianapolis doesn't have a Porsche Design Boutique of its own yet, it does have Tom Wood Porsche, with all the latest new and pre-owned Porsche vehicles available.
